Why are we doing this?
At a time when it seems like everyone has a podcast, or a blog, or a youtube channel, it seems reasonable to ask, “Why are we doing this?”
First and foremost, Architecture Geeks was started as a passion project for us. As architects, we interact with the built environment for a living. But for us, it’s more than just a day job. We don’t just turn off the architecture brain outside of work. The entire drive home, we’re looking at all the other buildings, bridges, and badly designed billboard graphics around us (which is why it’s sometimes safer for someone else to do the driving). We are endlessly drawn towards the built environment wherever we are, and we want to share that architect’s angle (pun intended) with you.
So as the fully fledged architecture geeks that we have just described ourselves as, we also wanted to have a conversation about architecture and design that anyone can relate to. Architects have no problems when talking about buildings or design to other architects. We all have goals and struggles that are relatable to anyone in our line of work. While it is easy to communicate with others in the industry, our goal is to open up that conversation to anyone interested, because the built environment affects everyone.
